9A Croatia – 9A2025HWC marks the 29th edition of the IHF World Men’s Handball Championship that is being held right now until 2 February . The special callsign, however, will be in use until 30 June. QSL via LoTW; QSOs are also uploaded to QRZ Logbook and Club Log.
A9 Bahrain – A9100IARU is the special callsign for the Bahrain Amateur Radio Society to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the International Amateur Radio Union. The activity began on 26-30 January, and will continue for five days each month starting on the 26th until the end of the year. QSL via EC6DX.
A9 Bahrain – A975IARU is the special callsign for the Bahrain Amateur Radio Society to celebrate the 75th anniversary of IARU Region 1. Activity will begin on 6-10 February, and will continue for five days each month starting on the 6th until the end of the year. QSL via EC6DX.
EA Spain – Special callsigns AO1WRD, AO2WRD, AO3WRD, AO4WRD, AO5WRD, AO6WRD (Balearic Islands), AO7WRD, AO8WRD (Canary Islands) and AO9WRD (Ceuta and Melilla) are expected to be active on 7-16 February in celebration of World Radio Day. QSL for all callsigns direct to EA3RKF. World Radio Day (13 February) was proclaimed in 2011 by the Member States of UNESCO, and adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012 as an International Day. This year’s theme is “Radio and Climate Change”.
F France – Francois, F8DVD will be active as TM22AAW on 2-3 and 8-20 February to promote the 22nd Antarctic Activity Week (12-23 February). He will be QRV on 40-10 metres from his home QTH in France. QSL via home call, direct or bureau, and LoTW.
FP St. Pierre & Miquelon – The Radio Club de Provins (F6KOP) has announced its intention to be active as FP5KE from Ile aux Marins, Saint-Pierre et Miquelon (NA-032) this year. A team of 16 operators will be active on 160-6 metres, and probably also on 2m EME, for a minimum of ten days. Although FT8 and FT4 will not be neglected, the DXpedition will focus on CW, SSB and RTTY. Further details, including specific dates and a website, will be provided in due course.
H4 Solomon Islands – Bernhard, DL2GAC will be active again as H44MS from Malaita (OC-047), Solomon Islands between 9 February and 7 May. Usually he is QRV on a daily basis, with activity on 80-6 metres SSB and FT8. QSL via home call, direct or bureau.
I Italy – II3MPL is the special callsign celebrating the 50th anniversary of ARI Merano/Meran (IQ3MP). Look for activity between 1 February and 1 May.
KH9 Wake Island – Allan, KH7AL is active as KH7AL/KH9 in his spare time while on work assignment on Wake Island (OC-053). “I have a little less than two months to go on this trip until I head home for a month”, he says. LZ Bulgaria – Special event station LZ75IPA will be active throughout 2025 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the International Police Association. QSL via Club Log’s OQRS, or direct to LZ3HI.
OE Austria – Celebrating the 48th FIS Alpine World Ski Championships to be held in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria, special event callsign OE2025SKI will be in use on 4-16 February. All QSOs will be confirmed automatically via the bureau and eQSL.
OH_ant Finland, Antarctica – Mika, OH2FFP, is once again active as OJ1ABOA from Aboa Research Station, Antarctica (AN-016) until 12 February. QSL via OH2FFP.
P4 Aruba – Marty, KE4TT, will be active as P4/KE4TT from Aruba (SA-036) between 7 February and 11 March. He will operate CW, SSB and FT8 on various HF bands. QSL via LoTW, Club Log’s OQRS, or direct to home call.
PY0S St. Peter & St Paul’s Rocks – The Araucaria DX Group has announced that it has received permission from the Brazilian Navy Brazilian Navy to conduct a DXpedition from Saint Peter & Saint Paul Archipelago (SA-014) in the October-November 2025 timeframe. This DXCC Entity was last activated in 2012. “Since then permission to land and operate from the rocks has not been granted. Our Radio In a Box (RIB) capability enables us to make this activation possible without the operators being physically on the rocks, thereby meeting the key requirement of the Navy for a very small footprint operation with minimum human presence. According to the permit, two of us will be allowed to land each day for a limited time to refuel the generators and make any necessary repairs”. Plans are to deploy five RIBs for a total of 6 stations, and to operate CW, SSB and FT8 on 160-6 metres. There will be six local operators (AA7JV, HA7RY, KN4EEI, KO8SCA, PY2XB and PY5CC) who will be based on a boat anchored a short distance from the rocks. S7 Seychelles – Bruno, VE3BRU will be active again as S79/VE3BRU from Mahe (AF-024), Seychelles on 4-20 February. He will operate CW and SSB on 40-10 metres. QSOs will be uploaded to LoTW, Club Log and eQSL.
SM Sweden – On 14 March 1925, electrician and radio pioneer Sven Bernholm made history in Gavle by conducting the city’s first radio broadcast under the callsign SMXF and using a homemade transmitter with 10 watts. Bernholm and Gefle Radioklubb’s efforts led to nearly fifty years of local broadcasts. SM100XF is the callsign for Gavle Kortvagsamatorer (SK3GK) to celebrate this centenary during the year. The first two activations will be on 14 February (14:00-17:00 UTC) and on 14 March (10:00-16:00 UTC). QSL via the bureau.
TA Turkey – Special callsign TC8DX will be active on 5-17 February to honour the memory of Mustafa Asim Ezer (TA8DX), who lost his life in the catastrophic earthquake that struck Turkey on 6 February 2023. QSL via LoTW, and certificate on https://tadx.org/awards.
TZ Mali – Ulmar, DK1CE was expected to be QRV as TZ1CE from Bamako, Mali, but as of 27 January he was still at home waiting for a visa. For the time being, the activity has been put on hold; the backup plan is to postpone until November-December.
V3 Belize – Walt, W0CP and his wife Mary, K0ZV will be active again as V31DJ and V31DK, respectively, from Belize during the month of February. Walt will participate in the ARRL DX CW Contest and in the FOC Marathon. QSLs via LoTW, Club Log’s OQRS, or direct to home calls.
V4 St. Kits, Nevis – Tom, K0YA will be active as V4/K0YA from St. Kitts (NA-104) from 6 February to 4 March. He will participate in the ARRL DX CW Contest (15-16 February) as V47Y. QSL via LoTW.
VK9C Cocos Keeling Islands – Larry, W5EIT will be active holiday style as VK9/W5EIT from the Cocos (Keeling) Islands (OC-003) on 11-18 February. VP2E Anguilla – Chuck, KG9N will be active as VP2ECV from Anguilla (NA-022) on 4-18 February. QSL via home call and LoTW.
